在书店里买了本《How to teach your child to read Shakespeare》——如何教会你的孩子读莎士比亚。

When you are old and grey and full of sleep, And nodding by the fire, take down this book, And slowly read, and dream of the soft look Your eyes had once, and of their shadows deep;

How many loved your moments of glad grace, And loved your beauty with love false or true, But one man loved the pilgrim Soul in you And loved the sorrows of your changing face;

And bending down beside the glowing bars, Murmur, a little sadly, how Love fled And paced upon the mountains overhead And hid his face amid a crowd of stars.

》——What can I hold you with?I offer you lean streets, desperate sunsets, the moon of the jagged suburbs.I offer you the bitterness of a man who has looked long and long at the lonely moon.

I offer you the loyalty of a man who has never been loyal.I offer you that kernel of myself that I he sed somehow -the ceal heart that deals not in words, traffics not with dreams and is untouched by time, by joy, by adversities.

I offer you the memory of a yellow rose seen at sunset, years before you were born.I offer you explanations of yourself, theories about yourself, authentic and surprising news of yourself.I can give you my loneliness, my darkness, the hunger of my heart; I am trying to bribe you with uncertainty, with danger, with defeat.

Perhaps we will miss each other eventually, but you should know I had been enamored of you. My mind never remains for anyone while my heart will be moved by somebody.

We don't read and write poetry because it's cute, We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race,And the human race is filled with passion,Medicine, law, business, engineering, these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life. But poetry...beauty, romance, love...these are what we stay alive for.
